Hello everyone! Welcome to the second day of Blogmas! I thought I would show you how to make Peppermint Bark. I found a recipe on Pinterest and thought I would make it!
It says you need 400g of white and dark chocolate but, I stuck to 200g of white and dark chocolate. If you wanted more, then I would definitely recommend using 400g. I thought 200g would be plenty but, if you want a bigger piece then 400 grams is best for Peppermint Bark.
You will also need:
Candy Canes
Vegetable Oil
Peppermint Food Flavouring (optional)
To start off, break the dark chocolate into pieces (I've used Lindt Cocoa).
Add in a teaspoon of vegetable oil for the melting and turn on the stove or, you can use a microwave. Place the bowl on top of the sauce pan and be careful not to burn the chocolate. Use a spoon to stir it around.
Whilst it's melting, cover a baking tray in tinfoil so it is easy to take out the chocolate once its hardened.
Then, pour in the melted chocolate into the tray. Put this in the fridge until hardened. Don't forget to add a teaspoon of the Peppermint food flavouring into the chocolate!
Then do the same with the two bars of white chocolate.
Get your Candy Canes and rolling pin and crush them up into big or small pieces.
I learn't using a sandwich bag was best for this as they go everywhere!
And then add the crushed Candy Canes into the white chocolate. You then want to pour the white chocolate over the top of the hardened dark chocolate that is in the tray and put it back in the fridge until it is hard again.
After taking it out of the fridge, get a knife and start breaking it into pieces.
And there you have it! Festive Peppermint Bark. It is great for a Secret Santa gift or for Christmas eve! They last a long time in the fridge too!
Please send me your photos if you make it. Have you made Peppermint Bark before?
Enjoy Steph
