Disneyland Paris July Day One Trip Report

On Friday 29th I arrived at Marne La Valle station at 2pm. Traditionally, I head to Disneyland Park straight away to see the Castle, did I follow tradition this time?! Nope. I headed to the Walt Disney Studios Park! This is a first for me because seeing the castle first on a trip is a must. But, Mickey and The Magician changed that.

The Lion King Remake - My Thoughts

So this week Disney announced they were remaking The Lion King.

On Wednesday afternoon my phone was going crazy! Everyone knows I'm a massive fan and everyone was messaging me that Jon Favreau had announced he was re imaging The Lion King, which is my favourite movie of all time.

At first I was nervous, but then I remembered how stunningly beautiful the visuals were for The Jungle Book. I know he only included a snippet of one song but, I have read that he will include lots of songs which pleases me. The music is what The Lion King is most famous for. With songs from Elton John, Lebo M and Hans Zimmer, they need to include these into the remake or it just will not work.

Why do I love The Lion King so much you may ask? Well, I was four years old when it came out and the year after was my first trip to Walt Disney World – my first ever Disney park. It was my earliest memory The Lion King. I remember receiving a Simba plush from my Nan after my Grandad sadly past away that year. It is a very strong emotional connection for me that even to this day hearing The Circle of Life makes me cry twenty two years on.

Moments I want kept in the remake

There are key moments that I want in this new adaption of The Lion King that I think if they were not kept in it wouldn’t do it justice and they are the following:

1.     The Circle of Life opening.

Without this iconic scene, there is no point in remaking it at all. It is such a powerful awe-inspiring scene that they have to keep it in.

2.     Remember who you are.

Another epic scene, where we see Mufasa telling Simba he must return to Pride Rock to take his place as King. I get so emotional in this particular scene. If they were remaking it and taking another take on The Lion King where Mufasa doesn’t get killed this would be an interesting story.

3.     I Just Can’t Wait To Be King.

This light-hearted scene where we Simba getting excited to become King. The song needs to be included too.

4.     Be Prepared.

I used to be so scared of the Hyenas when I was younger. I’m not sure I am ready to see them in a real life form on the big screen. It would be amazing to see the thousands of Hyenas marching in CGI though so however scared I am of them, the Hyenas need to be left in.

5.     Hakuna Matata

Forget the remake without this epic number. Timon and Pumbaa really make the film and this motto has stayed with me all these years. Everyone loves Timon and Pumba and I think they need to be exactly as they are in this remake. If they really change them up people including myself won’t be happy. Ernie? Nathan? You game for voicing them again?

Now of course I can list all the songs and all the scenes to be kept in the film. I want them all in the new film but, knowing the remakes recently I don’t think they will all be left in. We had A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes in Cinderella but that was left out of the film and only on the soundtrack. I’m assuming it’ll be the same format.

Other takes on The Lion King Remake.

I would love to see what happened to Scar before he became evil. His original name is Taka. Maybe at the beginning they could include a flash back to his time. Or maybe he never killed Mufasa? They could do so much with this remake which is making me nervous and excited at the same time. I just hope they don't make Rafiki a scary evil monkey which, like King Louis they unfortunately did.

Do you need any more Merch?

Yes of course I do! I have merchandise from 1994 to now. My oldest being my Simba teddy to sing along VHS’s and ornaments. Recently at a Disney Meet Up in London, I bought a Nala plush because I thought I didn’t buy her when I was younger as Simba is my favourite. I came home and wanted to get all my plushes out that I could find. I found my Nala one from the 2003 DVD release! I also have two Scar’s as I bought a huge Scar in 2003 and in 2006 in Walt Disney World. I also have Shenzie, Timon, Pumbaa and Rafiki who I cannot find, Mufasa and I have them all again with Zazu in a smaller version. Not including my Tsum Tsums! I will always buy Lion King merch. I bought a Simba Onesie from Primark the other week as I have been waiting for one to come out and it is the comfiest thing ever!

I will be on the lookout for the remakes merchandise on the Disney Store website just like they have done with Cinderella and The Jungle Book. I also have some stuff from the musical which, I am about to book my 7th trip. I love when the animals come up the sides, just not the Hyenas! Do you have a film that you collect all the merchandise for?

Why make a remake of The Lion King?

I think every Disney film will get a remake sooner or later. We have Beauty and The Beast that is coming out next year. We’ve had Cinderella last year which, I fell in love with the Cinderella remake, I prefer it to the animated classic. That is a beautiful film and I can’t wait to wear my Lilly James dress at Halloween this year! At first I was thinking, it has to be Matthew Broderick, it has to be Nathan Lane or it won’t be the same! But, did you know other people have played their parts and we didn’t even notice? Matthew Broderick doesn’t sing! Wait, what? Yup that’s right! He doesn’t sing! Joseph Williams portrays Simba’s singing voice – heartbreaking I know. Jonathan Taylor Thomas doesn’t sing young Simba’s voice either. People are so good these days portraying characters voices that we know and love, that if they do the casting right, we wouldn’t even notice. I mean we may miss Nathan and Mathew’s amazing voices, but I’m sure it will be fine and we will enjoy the visual of the CGI and who knows, the story might be exactly the same and no twisted take on it what so ever. Don't worry Jon I'll be in all the meetings giving you notes from the number one fan.

Since I was little, I have always wanted to see my favourite characters come to life before my eyes. Hearing them talk as a “real" Lion. I remember going to the cinema in 2011 when they put it on the big screens again then, and being an emotional wreck crying through my 3D glasses. I’m sure I will be the same with this new adaption rather than crying that it is ruined.

Can we please have Asante Sana Squash Banana still though?

Zoella Beauty Sweet Inspirations Review

Hello everyone.

On Friday Zoe launched her new Zoella Beauty range Sweet Inspirations. I was sad to hear Tutti Fruity would be leaving shelves but when she announced it would be Macarons, I was so happy! I like sweet scents but not too sickly sweet. When I opened it today, I was really happy that it wasn't sickly sweet at all! It was perfect!

Firstly, I picked up the Body Mist. I have loved all three so far and the packaging is beautiful! I'm happy as it goes with my mint room :-)

I always love her Body Creams too, so I ordered her new Sweet Inspirations one. They really do go far and last a long time. Again, I love the packaging and colours of this as well as the scent.

Lastly, I purchased this beautiful Make Up bag. I will take this to Disneyland Paris with me. Its massive, you can fit a lot in there and I adore the stripes!

That's all I purchased on Friday. The website was a bit slow as everyone was on at the same time, so I'm glad I've got them so quickly! Thanks Feel Unique :-) I took these photos on manual mode as my camera is still broken so, I hope they're clear enough for you :-)

I am very pleased with this scent. I love Macarons and Paris, this is a great combination for me. I really want the Bath Salts next and the Bath Latte.

Did you manage to pick up any of the new range? I'd love to hear your thoughts on it!

Enjoy Steph

Disneyland April Day Two

Hello everyone.

On the second day of Disneyland, I woke up really late. I set my alarm for half 7 to get the most out of Extra Magic Hours with my new Annual Pass. However, I woke up at half 8 and rushed out the door to get on the bus. It took 2 minutes to get to the park which is really good. It didn't stop at any other hotel. I wish I booked HiPark for July now.
